If you own a Nokia 3230 for at least a month, you might be disturbed with the dust it has gathered under the screen. This otherwise cool looking gadget needs some cleaning once in a while. Here are the instructions on how to open and clean it.
Tools
- Thin plastic card (guitar pick, laminated ID, etc. - some people can even do it with their nail)
- T6 torx srewdriver
- Can of canned air, soft brush or any other cleaning tool you trust
- Turn off the phone (no, seriously!)
- Remove battery cover and the battery
- Hold the phone with camera facing you
- The top plastic cover piece is hinged and not glued: slip your plastic card trough the gap above the camera with card's corner aiming up
- When the top cover is loose, gently remove it
- Use T6 screwdriver to unscrew 4 screws: 2 at the bottom of battery container and 2 in the top area you have just uncovered [note: top and bottom screws are different! Remember which go where for reassembling]
- Slip your plastic card through the gap on the side of the phone, going upwards
- The phone should easily disassemble now, giving you access to clean the dust from the screen and other parts using canned air or brush. Be gentle!
- Put the pieces back together, replace the screws and top cover.
- Enjoy the brand-new screen!
- You can order different colour Nokia 3230 covers from e-bay and replace them using the technique described above.
